The June, July and August Starbuck Area Chamber of Commerce meetings primarily dealt with the preparation for Heritage Days and the Vintage and Artisan Market, so there was no meeting recap sent out those two months. 

The Starbuck Area Chamber of Commerce board of Directors met on Tuesday, Sept. 20,  at 6 p.m. for their regular monthly meeting. There were seven board members, and four guests present. The board first approved a grant and a loan to the Beautification Committee to help with the purchase of flower baskets for this year. 

Next, the Vintage and Artisan Market was discussed.  The event was well attended and was considered a success.  Plans are to continue the event in 2023.  A donation of $150 was made to the Lowry Discovery Days Preschool for helping with the event.

The Chamber will be having a booth at the “Night to Unite” event to be held on October 6 from 3:30 to 6:30.   Several board members volunteered to help with the booth. The Scholarships for the Heritage Days Royalty was next on the agenda. It was decided to raise the scholarship amount for the Queen and the two Princesses. First Dollar presentations will be made to new businesses as soon as the businesses are ready.

In new business the board discussed updating the chamber website.  More information will be presented at the October meeting. The chamber will have an ad in the 2023 Minnewaska Visitor Guide. Board members are looking at redesigning the ad from last year.

The Christmas Extravaganza will be held on October 29th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Community Center. Vendors can find a registration form on the chamber website and Facebook Page. Community Center preparation will take place Friday afternoon.

The chamber hosts seven events each year and gets charged a fee for insuring these events.  There was discussion whether each event should contribute a portion of their proceeds to cover the event insurance fee.  It was decided to not make a change.  – Submitted by Tom Beuckens
