With the winter sports season drawing near, the Laker Activities Department is scheduled to hold a winter sports meeting at 6 p.m., Monday, Nov. 14 in the auditorium at MAHS.
The meeting will give the Laker Activities Department an opportunity to deliver a unified message about our activities and provide coaches an opportunity to cover important details about the upcoming season.
Laker winter sports/activities to be addressed are wrestling, boys and girls basketball, speech, and dance for junior high and high school athletes and their parents/guardians (not junior high girls basketball).
At that time, Minnewaska Area Activities Director Phil Johnsrud will introduce the Laker coaching staff and speak briefly about important topics for athletes and parents/guardians.
Immediately following, there will be breakout sessions for each program led by the head coach and their assistants beginning at 6:30 p.m.
In addition to the meetings, for families that don’t have internet access or need help with online registration, an activity registration session will be offered in the computer lab from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The MAHS activities office staff will lead this session in the MAHS computer lab.
Please ensure your athlete has a physical on file for the official start and the beginning of the winter season. Typically, all student athletes going into 7th and 10th grade need physicals to participate in a MSHSL sport. If your student athlete does not have an up to date physical or is entering 7th or 10th grade, please make an appointment with your local health provider to do so as student athletes will not be able to practice until a physical with documentation is submitted.
Online registration is currently open by using the following link on the Minnewaska Area Schools website: https://minnewaskahs-ar.rschooltoday.com/
Please refer to the activities calendar for information regarding the first day of practice for each activitiy.
Anyone with questions may call the Minnewaska Area Activities Department at 239-1305.
