The VFW Auxiliary to Starbuck Post 4582 held their regular meeting on Monday, Nov. 14, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the meeting room of the VFW with President Karen Tharaldson presiding. The Chaplain offered the opening prayer and the pledge to the flag was given. The roll call of officers found 9 present and 5 absent with 12 total members present. The secretary’s report was read and approved. The treasurer’s report was read and filed subject to audit. Thank you letters from the VFW National Home for Children and from the Veteran’s Hospital Fund were read.
Information noted: The next Auxiliary Meeting will be held on Dec. 12, 2022 at 2 p.m. There were 96 entries for the Voice of Democracy Scholarship program. Seven of the entries were sent on to the District 5 Auxiliary for judging. The Americanism coloring contest received 29 entries and 3 were sent to the District 5 Auxiliary for judging.
Unfinished business: The Auxiliary Charter was draped in honor of LaVonne Good who passed away on Nov. 6, 2022, and Patricia Voeller who passed away on Nov. 14, 2022. The Veteran’s dinner was well attended and 91 meals were served.
New business: Planning for the Christmas Care event that will take place on Dec. 17 is underway. The Auxiliary to Post 4582 and the Starbuck Fire Department Auxiliary partner in this volunteer activity. Vicki Aaberg moved to pay the bills and Ruby Aaberg seconded the motion. The motion carried. Kathryn Kyvig moved to donate $50 to the personal fund accounts of each veteran and auxiliary member who is currently a resident of a local care facility. Sheree Williamson seconded the motion and the motion carried. Deb Kuusisto moved to omit the January meeting for 2023. Sheree Williamson seconded the motion and the motion carried.
Mary Lehtola’s name was drawn for the quarter drawing and her name was also drawn for the door prize of $11. The meeting was closed according to the rituals.
