Official Proceedings Pope County  Truth in Taxation Hearing Thursday, December 1, 2022

The Pope County Truth-in-Taxation hearing duly noticed for December 1, 2022 in the Third Floor Board Room at the County Courthouse, 130 Minnesota Ave. E. in Glenwood, was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Board Chair Larry Lindor with the following members also present: Paul Gerde, Nan Haggerty, Cody Rogahn, and Gordy Wagner. Kersten Kappmeyer, County Administrator, was present, as was County Assessor Michael Wacker, Deputy Assessor Bonnie Lay, County Auditor-Treasurer Stephanie Rust, and Deputy Auditor-Treasurer Kelly Detloff. Members of the public were also present at the hearing.

Kersten Kappmeyer, County Administrator, presented information on the 2022 year to date budget and fund balances, proposed preliminary levy proposed for 2023, and recommendations for the Board to consider from the Administrator’s Office for lowered expenditures, increase revenues, and modification of the final levy and budget for 2023 based on updated numbers since the preliminary budget and levy was adopted in September.

Chair Lindor solicited public comments and questions from those in attendance; there was one comment offered from a member of the public, Luke Wilmes, on the increased property valuation set on his property in Glenwood Township, and no other comments were offered after repeated solicitation by the Chair.

Chair Lindor adjourned the hearing at 6:51 p.m.
