The VFW Auxiliary to Starbuck Post 4582 held their regular meeting on Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, at 2 p.m. at the meeting room of the VFW with President Karen Tharaldson presiding. The Chaplain offered the opening prayer and the pledge to the flag was given. The roll call of officers found 11 present and three absent with 12 total members present. The secretary’s report was read and approved. The treasurer’s report was read and filed subject to audit.
Information noted: The next Auxiliary Meeting will be held on Feb. 13, 2023, at 2 p.m. The Mid-Winter Conference for the state wide VFW and Auxiliary members will be held Jan. 13-15. The District 5 meeting will be in Willmar on Jan. 8 at 2 p.m. The Voice of Democracy contestant from Post 4582, Kia Matt, placed first at the District level and her entry will be judged at state.
Unfinished business: Cards for veterans in local care facilities and Veteran’s hospitals will be sent.
New business: Deb Kuusisto moved to have the Auxiliary to Post 4582 to volunteer to partner with the Starbuck Fire Department Auxiliary in the Christmas Care Project. Leona Aaberg seconded the motion and the motion carried. Ruby Aaberg moved to pay the bills and Donna Frank seconded the motion. The motion carried. Deb Kuusisto moved to donate $50 to the Green Shower program and $50 to the Commander and President’s project MAC-V. Lois Brecht seconded the motion and the motion carried.
Kathryn Kyvig’s name was drawn for the quarter drawing and Juanita Steen’s name was drawn for the door prize of $5. She was not in attendance. The meeting was closed according to the rituals.
