The Minnewaska Area dance teams had a busy and successful weekend of dance, competing at the Montevideo Invitational, Friday, and the Pelican Rapids Invitational, Saturday.

The Varsity Jazz team placed second at the Montevideo meet, while the Varsity High Kick team also placed second.

There were another couple runner-up finishes for the JV team as the JV Jazz and JV High Kick teams also both placed second.

Other teams competing at Montevideo were the host team, Worthington, Canby-Minneota, Lakeview, BOLD-BLHS, LQP-DB and Sauk Centre.  Instead of trophies, the awards were dance cookies.

•  One night later, the Minnewaska Area dance teams competed at the Pelican Rapids Invitational.

Other teams competing at Pelican Rapids were Bagley, Crookston, Crosby-Ironton, DGF, Hawley, Mahnomen, Moorhead and Pelican Rapids.

The Lakers had another great showing as the JV Jazz and JV High Kick teams both came home with team titles.

In addition, the Varsity Jazz team placed fourth and the Varsity High Kick team earned third.

The dance teams have another busy week on tap with three competitions this week.

Minnewaska Area was set to compete at the Little Falls Invitational, Monday, the BBE Invitational, Thursday, Jan. 19 and the Yellow Medicine East Invitational, Saturday, Jan. 21.  Coming up is the WCC Meet at BOLD, Thursday, Jan. 26.  A team picture from Montevideo can be found on page 4B.
