U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota was in Glenwood recently to hear about issues facing the community. Much of the discussion revolved around the childcare crisis facing Pope County as the fate of Kingdom Kids hangs in the balance. The senator is working with local officials to secure funding for the dilemma. She was presented with information regarding the workforce population and how the possible closure of the center would affect the area. Attending the meeting were Barry Hegg, Trina Starker, Senator Klobuchar, Kay Blauert and Mayor Sherri Kazda. Each expressed how dire the situation could be. Klobuchar mentioned several resources and avenues. “We will work diligently to explore this information and hope that one of them is the correct one, but we need to continue to seek other funding since nothing is a sure bet right now,” stated Kazda.
