The snow and ice conditions are good and the roar of snowmobile engines will echo across Lake Minnewaska on Saturday.

The Main Event International Hetteen Cup Vintage Snowmobile races will again take place on Lake Minnewaska in front of Lakeside Ballroom on Saturday, March 4.

Admission is free.

Hot laps begin at 9 a.m. with races starting 11 a.m.

The purpose of the Main Event and the Hetteen Cup Championship in Glenwood is to promote all vintage racing and snowmobiling. The winner of the cup will be the best racer at the contest determined on a points basis for races that are designated Hetteen races. Awards will be given out shortly after the end of the last race at Lakeside Ballroom.

The annual event attracts many racers and owners of vintage snowmobiles from all over the state.   Spectators will be able to watch the races from the patio outside Lakeside and from various places inside as well.

Marthaler Chevrolet of Glenwood is the corporate sponsor of the Main Event, but it takes many to pull off an event like this successfully and keep racers coming back year after year, according to Jill Solmonson, of Lakside, who helps organize The Main Event each year.  A ad containing additional financial sponsors of the Main Event can be found on page 12B in this issue of the Pope County Tribune.
