A winter storm dumped more than a foot of snow on Pope County and most of west central Minnesota last Wednesday and Thursday.  The snow was followed by high winds Wednesday night into Thursday as residents began digging out from under the drifts on Thursday.  A number of state and county roadways remained drifted shut throughout Thursday, but plows were out making them passable by Friday morning. Minnewaska Area Schools were closed on Wednesday and Thursday, opening two-hours late on Friday.  Above, a Glenwood city worker clears sidewalks along Minnesota Avenue in downtown Glenwood.  At right, a local man clears his sidewalk the old-fashioned way–with a shovel.
