MACT*FEST

Central Square was the site for MACT*Fest 2023, a biennial festival that showcases the best of community theatre, with performances, workshops and networking opportunities for actors, directors, designers and other theatre professionals. Theatre enthusiasts and community theaters from across the state attended  MACT*Fest 2023 at the historic venue in Glenwood.  

MACT*Fest audiences enjoyed a variety of short plays. The festival also included workshops led by industry professionals covering a variety of topics, including acting, directing, design and technical theatre. 

Four Minnesota theatre companies put on shows for MACT*Fest. The County Seat Theatre Company from Cloquet, Minn., the FungusAmongus Players of Dassel-Cokato, the Marshall Area Stage Company and the Ole Olsen Onstage group from Stillwater, Minn. There were vendor tables set up from the Heartland Scenic Studios and LPint Consulting. An awards brunch was held Sunday morning at Lakeside Ballroom and the two Best of Fest awards were given to the County Seat Theatre Company for their portrayal of “Tracks” and the FungusAmongus Players of Dassel-Cokato for their performance of “The End of the Beginning.” Both of these performances will advance to compete regionally in Salina, Kansas to represent the best of Minnesota Community Theatre.
