Central Square in Glenwood will be the site of MACT*Fest 2023, a biennial festival that showcases the best of community theatre, with performances, workshops, and networking opportunities for actors, directors, designers, and other theatre professionals. Theatre enthusiasts and community theaters from across the state are invited to attend MACT*Fest 2023. 

The festival will take place from March 24 through March 26 at Central Square.

At the event, Curt Bredeson, of Starbuck, will be awarded the Fliehr Award.  Bredeson has been involved in local community theatre for decades, including his work with the local group, Showstoppers.  

The Fliehr Award is a lifetime achievement award recognizing distinguished service to the Minnesota Theatre, it was stated in the announcement from the Minnesota Association of Community Theatres (MACT).  The award was established in 1998 as part of the 25th anniversary of MACT.  

The ward was named the Fliehr Award in honor of Kay and Richard Fliehr, lifelong community theatre promoters and organizers across the country.  Theatre in the Round, the Guthrie, MACT, the American Community Theatre Associations and the AACT and many other theatres and organizations benefited from the Fliehr’s knowledge, devotion, energy and excitement in the art  and craft of theatre, it was stated.  

The event, MACT*Fest in Glenwood is the 50th anniversary of MACT and it will be the 26th biennial statewide adjudicated play festival of the MACT, it was stated.
