The Minnesota Ambulance Association applauds the 95 ambulance services across Minnesota that were recently honored with special recognition from the Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board (EMSRB).
Glacial Ridge Ambulance in Glenwood was one of the services honored with the special recognition. The 95 awardees had to achieve a performance rate of 80% or higher in five or more performance measures. The measures evaluated looked specifically at the quality of patient care in cases of strokes, chest pain, trauma and pediatrics.
“We are proud to see so many of our Minnesota Ambulance Association member organizations receiving these EMS Clinical Excellence awards from the EMSRB,” said Joe Newton, President of the Minnesota Ambulance Association and senior director of ambulance services for Essentia Health. “The announcement of the EMS Clinical Excellence awards is just one example of the work the EMSRB has been doing to recognize, support, and improve EMS across the state over the past two years.”
Minnesota’s EMS providers continue to provide excellent service even as they confront serious challenges related to staff and volunteer shortages and increased demand for emergency medical services.
Each year, ambulance service providers throughout the state respond to nearly 715,000 calls for service annually using 804 individual ambulances. All Minnesotans count on EMTs and Paramedics throughout our state to provide not only transportation, but high-quality out-of-hospital care to keep Minnesotans safe and healthy.
