The Minnewaska Area boys tennis team improved to 3-0 in the WCC and 3-2 overall with a 6-1 victory over Lac qui Parle-DB last Tuesday night at home.  The Lakers were also set to host MACCRAY, Thursday, but that date was postponed to this Friday, April 28 due to weather.

Also on tap this week is a match at Montevideo, scheduled for Tuesday, April 25 (tomorrow).

Through the early part of the season, Marshall Kopp and Landon Schiffler are 3-0 for the Lakers, while Connor Quelle, Noah Palmer, Carter LeClair and Drew Bleick are all 4-1.

Minnewaska 6, LQP 1

The Lakers improved to 3-0 in the conference with a 6-1 victory over Lac qui Parle/DB last Tuesday night at home.  The Lakers swept the three doubles’ matches and also picked up points at first through third singles.

Connor Quelle keyed the win with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout victory at first singles, while Tenzin Dahl won 6-0, 6-2 at second singles and Noah Palmer improved to 4-1 for the season with a 6-1, 6-0 win at third singles.

In doubles, Carter LeClair and Drew Bleick also improved to 4-1 for the season with a 6-1, 6-0 rout at first doubles, while Marshall Kopp and Landon Schiffler claimed a 6-2, 6-2 win at second doubles and Tate Hanson and James Nichtern earned a forfeit victory at third doubles.

LQP picked up its lone point with a three-set victory over Tayte Wasilowski at fourth singles.

A little about the team

The Lakers are coming off a 21-7 season from a year ago in which the team qualified to the state tourney for the first time in program history and also sent Tate Reichmann to the state individual tourney.

Included on this year’s boys tennis roster are senior Noah Palmer; junior Connor Quelle; sophomores Tenzin Dahl and Riley Thorfinnson; freshmen Drew Bleick, Tate Wasilowski, James Nichtern and Tate Hanson; eighth-graders Marshall Kopp, Landon Schiffler, Tyler Kohn, Carter LeClair, Ethan Klick, Gabe Maasjo and Deven Manderscheid; and seventh-graders Carson Beyer, Xavier Johnson, Easton Palmer, Aidric Vold, Mason Goebel and Eddie VanderHagen.
