David Cooley, of Glenwood, was awarded the Minnesota Alliance of Local History Museum’s Volunteer of Excellence award in April at the organization’s annual meeting in Austin, Minnesota. Last week, Pope County Museum staff presented him with his certificate and pin at a museum event. Cooley was recognized for his years of service and dedication to local history through his involvement with the Pope County Museum. In addition to serving several terms on the board of the directors and on committees and task groups, he has shared his skills and talents on many restoration projects. For example, he re-roofed and re-painted the Soo Line caboose on the museum grounds. The Pope County Museum staff and board thanked Cooley for sharing his time, talent and treasure throughout the years.
