NOTICE OF INTENT TO 

ESTABLISH SOLID WASTE DESIGNATION ORDINANCE 

FOR POPE COUNTY PURSUANT TO MINNESOTA STATUTE §115A.80 to 115A.893.

Please take notice that on the 16th day of May, 2023 at 9 a.m., or shortly thereafter, the Pope County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing at the 3rd floor Meeting Room of the Pope County Courthouse, Glenwood, Minnesota 56334, on a proposed ordinance that would regulate the transportation and delivery of solid waste within Pope County.  In furtherance of the purpose and policies set forth in MN Statute 115A.02 and MN Statute 400.01, the ordinance would require that all acceptable solid waste derived in Pope County would be transported and delivered to the Pope Douglas Solid Waste facility located in Alexandria, MN. The purpose of this Ordinance is to assure that Designated Waste is managed in an environmentally sound manner in order to protect the public health and welfare, environment and investments in the integrated Solid Waste management system of Pope County made pursuant to State mandates governing Solid Waste management.  

This hearing constitutes a notice of an intention to enact an ordinance for regulating Solid Waste in Pope County, MN.
