Giving back to the community is a primary goal for FAST Global Solutions in Glenwood. The employees share a purpose of delivering winning solutions that help their customers, employees, and communities thrive. To do more for the community, each employee receives 16 hours of paid time off to volunteer. Other initiatives have included the United Way Backpack Attack program, blood drives and scholarship programs.

The latest effort in giving back to the community is the renewal of the classic car show. The classic car show was a monthly event held at the Glenwood A&W, where classic cars and trucks from the surrounding area gathered, giving the community and car owners a place and time to visit and appreciate a variety of old and new cars. With the closing of Glenwood A&W, FAST employee Corey Lien pitched an idea to continue the classic car show. “Since A&W was no longer doing the show and FAST has a large parking lot, I thought this is something we could do for the community,” said Lien.

Lien’s love for classic cars started long ago as a kid. Shortly after graduating from high school, he had a ’65 Chevy Impala and has since added a ’76 Oldsmobile 442. “I am more of a collector and appreciator of cars, but I have family who have the mechanical background to help out if I need some work done,”  said Lien.   “There is something about looking at a car made of solid iron, a simpler car and, I believe, a better made car that I enjoy.”

“If you love or are proud of your car, bring it to the car show. The classic car show is for everyone to come and enjoy. We invite those with classic cars to come and share with others. It is all about sharing a common interest and sharing with others who do not get the opportunity to see various cars,” said Lien.

The classic car will begin on Wednesday, June 14, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the FAST parking lot (the old Shopko building parking lot). The date will remain the second Wednesday of the month throughout the summer. FAST hopes to have food trucks at the event as well. “We hope the community comes up and enjoys the cars and swamping stories with others.  It is a wonderful night for the whole family to attend,” said Lien.
