REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

The Minnewaska Area Schools Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, May 22, 2023 in the Minnewaska Area High School Board Room. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairperson Barsness. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Present: Barsness, T. Reichmann, Lagred, A. Reichmann, Zavadil, Holtberg, Ogdahl

Special Recognitions & Honors: 

The MAS school board would like to thank Terri Richards, Kelly Bleick, Kylie Murken, and Jamie Dietzman for their dedication and commitment to planning the Minnewaska School District’s 2023 Day of Caring. There was an enormous amount of effort that went into getting ready and executing the day and the district office received many positive comments from community members and staff. The Day of Caring is a very genuine and unique program promoting the importance of gratitude and giving back.

Superintendent Rankin reviewed the investment schedule, food service report and gave a superintendent’s report.

Food Service Director Bridget Gallagher presented an update to the board on the foodservice department.

IT Director Mark Meyer will be presented an update to the board on the Information Technology department.

Motion by Holtberg, seconded by A. Reichmann, to approve the Transportation Bid/Quote and contract with Palmer Bus Service for Fiscal Years 2024-2027.

Katie Elenberger, Spark 27 Founder and Creative Brand Strategist, attended and provided the school board with a review of projects completed in FY23.  Katie also presented the FY24 contract proposals, including goals for the upcoming year.

Motion by Barsness, seconded by Holtberg, to approve the Bread Quotes for FY24 as presented.

The MAS district has agreed to a Facility Use Agreement with the American Red Cross. This agreement would allow the Red Cross to request the use of the facility and would be managing the facility if it is ever needed for disaster purposes. The signed Facility Use Agreement is attached.

• MAHS Graduation Commencement – Friday, May 26 2023 at 7:00 p.m. in the MAHS Main Gymnasium. 

• June Data Retreat – June 1, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. in the Minnewaska Area High School Board Room.

• June Regular Board Meeting – June 19, 2023 in the Minnewaska Area High School Board Room.
