Wandering Cup Coffee is back this summer after receiving rave reviews last year. “We had amazing community support last year with businesses like Glenwood State Bank, Minnesota Olive Oil Company and the Minnewaska Fitness Center promoting our little business, not to mention all of our regulars who became fans of our coffee and donuts. I really appreciate the community supporting a small, female-owned business, especially since it is going a long way to help cover the cost of tuition at Gustavus, where I will be a freshman this fall,” stated Kenzie Luetmer, owner and operator of the Wandering Cup.
Luetmer will be running the business next to Lakeside, along with help from Waterama Queen Serena Mellgren. “We were located in the Subway lot last summer and would like to thank the owners of Subway and their manager, Sheila, for their hospitality,” she said. “Jill Solmonson told us last summer that we were welcome to come to Lakeside so this year we are taking her up on her generous offer. Jill has been a great supporter of young entrepreneurs. When my older sister, Abbie, was in high school, she started a gluten free (GF) bakery and catered some weddings at Lakeside, creating elaborate cakes and other GF desserts. I remember how supportive Jill was for those events. It’s great to have people like Jill in the community that go out of their way to support other small businesses in town and are willing to give young upstarts like my sister and me a chance to succeed and be part of the community. It will be great to be right on the lake this summer so our guests can grab their coffee and donuts and enjoy them while walking the shores of Lake Minnewaska.”
The Wandering Cup has also added online ordering this year so it will be easier for businesses to place large orders and receive a text when it is time to pick up their order.
Wandering Cup Coffee’s schedule will be Wednesday – Sunday, 7 a.m. – 1 p.m., with our grand reopening this Friday (the 23rd), as well as special events. Be sure to check their Facebook and Instagram pages, @wanderingcupcoffeetrailer, for variations in the schedule as you will also find them “wandering” to such events as the Starbuck Dragon Boat Races, the Grape Stomp at Carlos Creek Vineyards and private events. “We’d love to be open 7 days a week,” mentioned Luetmer, “but we need the downtime to get everything else done as we roast our own beans and make everything from scratch using local (when possible) and organic ingredients. It is quite a production to make the syrups!”
