The Pope County Attorney’s office last week received the investigative  report from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) on the shooting of Pope County Deputy Josh Owen while responding to a domestic dispute in Cyrus.

Pope County Attorney  Neil Nelson said he will review the case and  “make a charging decision within the next week or so.”

After Deputy Owen and his shooter were killed during an attempted arrest on April 15, the case was turned over to the BCA for investigation.  The BCA said in the days after the shooting event that results from the investigation would be made public.  Two other officers were involved in the shooting.  Deputy Owen and the man being arrested both died of gunshot wounds.
