Four members of the Minnewaska Area boys golf team earned All-Conference honors this spring.  The Lakers won another WCC team title, winning the final meet at Morris to earn the title by one point over West Central Area.

Earning All-Conference honors for the Lakers were Riley Larson, Zach Gugisberg, Thatcher Sherlin and Blake Nelson.

Minnewaska Area won four of the eight WCC meets, placed second at three others and was third at one meet when the Lakers were second by one stroke to WCA, but lost a tiebreaker for second place with Morris Area to earn third.

The Lakers had 59 points, followed by WCA with 58, Morris Area-CA with 42, Melrose Area and Benson with 31 points each, Montevideo with 27, Sauk Centre with 21 and BOLD with 13.

Morris Area’s Charlie Hanson was the top golfer this season in the WCC.  He averaged 34.83 for his top six rounds, which included two 31s.

Larson was second overall with a 35.5 average, including a low of 33 at Montevideo, while Zach Gugisberg was fifth overall with a 39 average (low of 34 at Morris), Thatcher Sherlin was seventh with a 40.5 average (low of 39 at WCA and Montevideo) and Blake Nelson was tied for 11th with a 41.67 average (low of 41 at Benson, BOLD and Morris).

WCA and Minnewaska Area both had four golfers named to the 13-member All-Conference team, while Morris Area-CA had two, and Benson, Montevideo and Melrose each had one.

In addition, also golfing for the Lakers during the WCC schedule were Kody Ward (38th overall with a 49.17 average), Chase Wacker, Garrett Jungclaus, Bode Dezelar, Ethan Peterson, Carter Huckle, Jackson Ziesmer and Lane Curry.
