The VFW Auxiliary to Starbuck Post 4582 held their regular meeting on Monday, July 10, 2023 at 2 p.m. at the Starbuck Chamber of Commerce Office with President Deb Kuusisto presiding. The Chaplain offered the opening prayer and the pledge to the flag was given. The roll call of officers found 11 present and 3 absent with 12 total members present. The secretary’s report was read and approved as corrected. The treasurer’s report was read and filed subject to audit.
Unfinished business: Three new members are in the process of transferring to the Starbuck Auxiliary to Post 4582. Some minor additional information is needed to complete the transfers. The Auxiliary is hosting the Starbuck Night on the Town on Thursday July 27, from 4:30-7 p.m. Serving BBQs, chips and ice cream bars. The Auxiliary passed out 864 small American flags at the Heritage Day Parade and volunteered and served food at the Bike Rodeo.
New business: Members who attended the Minnesota Department meeting in June reported that 100% reporting is no longer required. Karen Tharaldson moved to pay the bills. The motion was seconded and passed. Karen Tharaldson moved to increase the annual dues from $20 to $25 starting July, 2023. The motion was seconded and approved. Pat Aaberg presented the Audit Report for April 1st – June 30th and moved to accept the report. The motion was seconded and approved.
Suggestions for the good of the order: The next Auxiliary Meeting will be held on August 14, 2023 at 2 p.m. The Steak Fry will be held on Friday, July 21. Greg Emmons was chosen by Wooden Hearts for the Salute to Service Award and will be honored at their gathering on July 22 at Captains Bar and Grill. In recognition of the 50th Anniversary of Vietnam Veterans leaving Vietnam, the Minnesota National Guard is seeking 300 Vietnam Veterans to participate in a march during the State Fair’s Military Appreciation Day on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. Information can be found on the MN Association of County Veterans Service Officers Facebook page.
Lois Brecht’s name was drawn for the quarter drawing and Charlotte (Fran) Hill’s name was drawn for the door prize of $8. She was not in attendance. The meeting was closed according to the rituals.
