Wood-n-Hearts held a raffle event last Saturday with great success. The organization that helps ensure the independence of veterans by providing them with a nice bed to sleep in and a place to put their clothes raised over $50,000 at the event. 

Three veterans were recognized for their service to the country. Gregory Emmons, a veteran of the Vietnam War, was nominated by the Starbuck VFW Post 4582, Ryan Hansen, a veteran of deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait, was nominated by the American Legion Riders Post 12 in Long Prairie and Kristina VonBerge, a veteran of the Army and Army National Guard, was also nominated by the American Legion Riders Post 12. The three were presented with plaques.
