Dr. Joshua Thomas

Glacial Ridge Health System welcomes Dr. Joshua Thomas, a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with extensive training and a compassionate heart for healing. He begins seeing patients in September.

Dr. Thomas earned his Master of Biomedical Sciences at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL, and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Michigan State University in East Lansing. Continuing his training, Dr. Thomas performed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Michigan and completed an intensive Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD.

Dr. Thomas said, “My goal is to provide the best possible orthopedic care in our community.” He added, “The additional surgical training allows me to better care for my patients.”

Dr. Thomas’ orthopedic expertise lies in treating shoulder joint problems, including rotator cuff tears and arthritis. His commitment to helping patients with arthritis extends to the knee joint, where he applies his specialized knowledge to provide effective treatments. Additionally, Dr. Thomas is experienced in caring for numerous hand and wrist conditions, including Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

His patients appreciate his dedication to their well-being and the remarkable results he achieves. He is known as a physician who listens to his patients and involves them in decision-making. Dr. Thomas said, “I provide patients with a vast amount of education so they can better understand their condition and treatment options.”

The decision to establish his orthopedic medical practice in Glenwood was two-fold. Dr. Thomas said, “I was drawn to Glenwood for the supportive medical community at Glacial Ridge, and my wife and I appreciated the beautiful environment, friendly atmosphere, and small-town vibe.”

When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Thomas enjoys sharing adventures with his wife, Crystal, and their faithful dog, Pokey. They love to travel and enjoy outdoor activities from boating and fishing to snowboarding and ice-fishing, golfing, spending time with friends, and sharing good meals.
