“Emporium – Something that benefits both parties by trade.” This definition given by Sabrina Grajczyk is the essence of a new place opening in Starbuck – Sabrina’s Emporium.
Grajczyk’s business idea was ignited by her awareness of the items people were giving away. “During recovery from surgery, I spent time in the Facebook marketplace, where I began collecting household items through swaps or free offerings. It is astonishing to see how willing we are to discard things rather than explore the possibility of restoration. With some elbow grease and determination, I found their hidden potential,” she noted.
Sabrina’s Emporium is a free store that accepts donations and turns items into store quality. “I accept donations of clothing, household items, crafting supplies, school and office supplies, décor, or just about anything else that can be used by another. She does not take mattresses, refrigerators, or other large items. In addition to donated items, the Emporium also has many brand new items that have been donated as well.
While not everything that is donated requires attention, Grajczyk focuses on items that may initially seem unusable. With creativity and effort, she refurbishes or repurposes these items. Her enthusiasm lies in helping individuals declutter their homes by giving these items a new home and purpose.
The spirit of Sabrina’s Emporium captures the essence of trade, where the exchange isn’t solely about material possessions but community connection. Grajczyk intends to have a community space where individuals can gather. The Emporium will have room for community members to come to play board games, visit and do crafts. She also wants to offer human libraries to the community. “Imagine sitting across from someone who has experienced the world in a way you haven’t. It is an awesome exchange of perspectives and an opportunity to learn, grow and forge new connections.”
The store is for all who may be looking for something, “It is not just for people in need, but the store is available to anyone. If what I have fulfills your need, that is a win for me,” she stated.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support from the community,” expressed Grajczyk. “If I have learned one thing on this journey, the process is just as important as the product.”
Sabrina’s Emporium is situated at 310 North Main Street, Starbuck, in the former Starbuck Lumberyard store. For the latest updates on the openings and releases, visit Sabrina’s Emporium Facebook page.
