WIND POWER

The windy conditions last week brought some kitesurfers to Lake Minnewaska. Kitesurfing, also called kiteboarding, is a sport that uses a kite and a board to move across water. The kite is controlled by a bar and a harness that connects the rider to the kite and uses wind power to propel the surfer. The rider does not need waves, only wind, to power the kite. There were four or five kite surfers located just off of the Glenwood City Beach last Wednesday afternoon when winds were gusting to 30 miles per hour.
