Pope County has highest food insecurity in the area

Members of the GFWC Potpourri of Glenwood is joining other GFWC clubs across the nation to bring awareness to our communities about food insecurity.  Pope County has the highest food insecurity in this area with 24% of the population above SNAP threshold of 200% poverty. 

GFWC Potpourri club of Glenwood is organizing a food drive for the month of September and you can be a part of stocking our 3 food shelves. Drop a non-perishable food item or personal hygiene product in a collection box and GFWC Potpourri club members will distribute the items to Heart and Hand, Pope County Families in Need and Lighthouse (inside Minnewaska High School) food pantries.

Locations of food collection boxes: The Lakes Family Chiropractic, License Bureau, Glacial Ridge Wellness Center, Trumm Drug (20% off 1 item coupon is given when you give 3 donation items), Tom’s Market, Glenwood State Bank, Eagle Bank, Glacial Ridge Hospital, Glenwood Chamber/Welcome Center, and the Glenwood Public Library. If you would like a collection box at your place of business, let us know.

 Willow Brae concert goers, please bring a non-perishable food item to Central Square on September 16, Potpourri club members are hosting this event and will be there to take your donations.
