From the Glenwood Herald, Thursday, Sept. 20, 1923.

The fire department was called out Saturday noon to put out a fire which had started under the platform of the Soo depot. No serious damage was done.

Through the quick action of Emil Everson and Johnnie Jacobson a fire which was caused by the carelessness of campers was forestalled just as it threatened Peter Jacobson’s cornfield and buildings. Rolling Forks neighbors were called out with plows and a fire line was completed just as the fire was to begin its work of destruction. Although about twenty tons of hay was burned the loss would have been greater had it not been for the timely help of assisting Mr. Jacobson.

From the Starbuck Times, Friday, Sept. 21, 1923.

Miss Agnes Forde concluded her summer vacation and returned to her duties at Benson on Saturday evening. She began teaching her music class on Monday and resumes her position as organist in Our Saviour’s church.

Rev. G.O. Forde attended the special meeting of the building committee at St. John’s, who were to decide whether or not new windows should replace the old ones. They decided to put in art glass windows, each to represent a chapter of the life of Christ, beginning with his birth. The work is progressing nicely and when completed the congregation expect their church to be greatly improved. They have especially felt the need of a basement as they have been without a gathering place for the young people and the ladies aids during the winter months.
