Eple Tiden, the annual community event in Starbuck will be held this weekend at the Starbuck Depot and Museum. In its 32nd year, Eple Tiden or Apple Time will be held this Saturday, Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Several activities will be taking place including the traditional favorites and some new ones.

New this year is music by Myron’s Polka Datters. The group is made up of Myron and Ida Forbord’s daughters. They will play some Norwegian Folk Dance tunes as well as some favorite polkas and waltzes. “We hope you will be able to join us. Our goal is to get people dancing again.”

Several vendors will be on site with produce and crafts for sale. Country Blossom Farm will be on site selling apples. This year’s apples include SweeTango Minneiska and Zestar, both great choices in apple varieties and are suitable for eating and cooking.

Norwegian favorites will be served such as lefse, rømmegrøt, varme pølse and a barbecue lunch. Glacial Hills Elementary School students will provide entertainment at 11 a.m.

The Palmer People Mover will be on the grounds as the depot’s buildings will all be open including the caboose, the schoolhouse, the threshing kitchen, the mercantile, the Skoglund building and the famous Lefse Hall of Fame.

Beyond the apple-themed activities and attractions, Eple Tiden serves as a catalyst for community bonding.

This event provides an opportunity for residents to come together, strengthening social ties and fostering a sense of belonging,it was stated.  Neighbors, friends and even strangers engage in conversations, share stories and create lasting memories. Eple Tiden unites the community under a common love for apples and a shared desire to celebrate the harvest season.
