Peg Brenden and Sheri Brenden, author of the new book “Break Point: Two Minnesota Athletes and the Road to Title IX,” shared memories of Peg’s lawsuit in 1972 and her experiences as a girl who sought to compete on the high school’s tennis team. The audience embraced how Peg’s lawsuit jump-started a revolution in high school athletics that resulted in girls playing interscholastic sports and set precedent for the passage of 1972’s groundbreaking gender equity Title IX law. Books were signed, discussion with the two presenters and refreshments ended the evening. Break Point is available for purchase at www.sheribrenden.com.

The event was sponsored by GFWC (General Federation of Women’s Clubs) Potpourri of Glenwood and Central Square on Monday, Oct. 9. It was open to the public with special invitations to the county women’s clubs.
