Tank and Ankeny place fourth at Sauk Centre Invitational

The Minnewaska Area cross-country teams raced at the Sauk Centre Invitational last Tuesday night. The Lakers placed second in the boys meet, won by Sauk Centre, while the girls team placed third behind Rocori and NLS.
Minnewaska Area also had two fourth-place finishers in the individual competition as Lauryn Ankeny placed fourth in the girls meet with a time of 21:02 and Maeson Tank was fourth for the boys team with a time of 17:35.
This week, the Lakers are set to host the Minnewaska Area Invitational at the Minnewaska Golf Course, Tuesday (tomorrow).
The WCC Meet is set for Monday, Oct. 16 at Benson and the Section 6A Meet is set for Friday, Oct. 27 at Wadena-Deer Creek.
Sauk Centre Invite
The Lakers competed at the Sauk Centre Invitational last Tuesday night where Rocori edged NLS and Minnewaska Area for the girls title, and Sauk Centre beat out the Lakers for the 9-team boys’ championship.
LPGE’s Caroline Kuehne won the girls’ individual title with a time of 20:04, while Lauryn Ankeny was fourth for the Lakers with a time of 21:02.
Rocori totaled 54 points, NLS had 66 and Minnewaska Area had 88 to finish one-two-three out of 10 teams in the girls’ field.
Nori Song had a personal-best time of 21:25 to place eighth overall, followed on the Laker team by Jillian Deutsch in 23rd (23:15), Piper Citrowske-Lee in 25th (23:20) and Sophia Wallin in 28th place (23:38).
• In the boys race, Sauk Centre dominated the meet with 31 points, including the individual champion in Jacob Drevlow, who ran a great time of 17:06.
Maeson Tank was the top runner for the Lakers with a time of 17:35 to place fourth, while Zach Palmer was right behind in 11th place (18:23) and Ian Mills was 15th (19:06).
Rocori had the second and third-place finishers, but did not have enough runners to field a full team.
Luke Hoffman came through with a 24th place finish for the Lakers (20:05) and Carter Dinsmore finished 36th (20:44).
Minnewaska Area and NLS battled it out for second place and the Lakers edged the Wildcats by two points (77-79).
