From the Pope County Tribune, Thursday, January 10, 1924.
Beautiful Terrace. That is the way that P.E. Takken, the livewire and chief mogul of the largest little village for its size in the county, expressed himself in speaking about Terrace, the beauty gem of the county. Takken is very enthusiastic about Terrace and the many things that their community club have on their program for the coming year. Besides the new road that the county is building through Terrace, which will eliminate the heavy grade, the people of the community are going to build a concrete floor in the creek below the dam, where the public can drive their cars and have the running gears and the wheels washed. This will be open to the public and the tourists that pass through.
Mr. & Mrs. C.A. Swanson, of the Glenwood bakery, entertained all their employees at a banquet and entertainment on Sunday evening at their home. After the spread the evening was devoted to music, songs and stories, at the conclusion of which all departed, voting Mr. & Mrs. Swanson royal entertainers.

From the Glenwood Herald, Thursday, January 10, 1924.
A Fine Street. Franklin street is beginning to be one of the finest streets in town. There is the Glenwood Furniture Company, the Pastry Shop, Ames Drug Company, the Post Office, the Ladies Garment Shop, Josie Flaten’s Millinery Shop, Baumgartner’s Barber Shop and Avelsgaard’s Grocery. Many fine places in one short block. Across the street is the Fremad Association, the Pope County State Bank, the McCauley Theater, the Minton Cabaret, and the Minton Hotel. Glenwood has improved very much during the last two or three years in building and the improvement of its business places.
The stock of the Ladies Garment Shop is today being moved from its former location in the McCauley Theater building to the Furtney building across the street. The reason for moving is that the quarters were becoming too small. For some time, Mr. Furtney and his crew of helpers have been busy remodeling the store. A balcony has been built in the rear with two rooms below. New fixtures, carpets and rugs have been ordered. Miss Ella Lee has been in this business now for three years and she has been very successful. Her business has outgrown her place and it was necessary to get a larger place for her growing business. Miss Lee made a trip to Chicago last week to buy goods for the new store. It is mainly spring stock that she purchases and it will be in soon.
