The Minnewaska Area girls basketball team is set to open up the playoffs, Saturday night.  The Laker girls are set to commence with the Section 3AA Girls Basketball Tournament at 7 p.m., Saturday, with a home game against seventh-seeded Litchfield (6-18).  With a win, the Lakers would play again at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 29 against most-likely KMS at a site yet to be determined.

NLS earned the sub-section’s top seed, while Fairmont (15-9), Windom (18-6), Jackson CC (15-8) and Redwood (16-8) are the top four seeds in the other half.

The Minnewaska Area boys, meanwhile, are set to open up the Section 3AA Boys Basketball Tournament, Saturday, March 2 and the Lakers will be traveling to Eden Valley-Watkins (20-3) for a first-round game.  

If the Lakers survive that game, they would play again Thursday, March 7.

Montevideo (16-6), Paynesville Area (17-5) and Morris Area (15-8) are still battling for the second seed in the Lakers’ half of the section, while Redwood Valley (19-4) and Jackson County Central (14-7) are the top two teams in the other half.
