A recap of the February 20 regular meeting

Our February meeting we had 9 board members in attendance which included our new board members. Jodee Lund, Jennifer Tolifson and Kristie Taffe are our new board members. We also had three guests in attendance.

Guest Rita Larson gave us an update on 1st dollar presentations and certificates. She also discussed highlighting businesses called “Growing on the Prairie.” We are excited and looking forward to her expertise in telling a story about our local businesses.

Old Business discussion was reflecting on the Annual banquet and meeting. We served 80 delicious meals and raised $1,300 in our silent auction. We want to thank Waters Edge Patty Glomstad and her staff for a great job. Our speaker for the night was Jerry Kramer from CHS and a very informative overview of the impact of agriculture on our economy.

Also we discussed our website and our social media accounts and getting those updated.

New business included the Hello Spring Craft fair as we are having 10x 10 and 10 x 6 booths this year. It will be held on April 27, 2024 at the Starbuck Community Center. Please join us from 10-2 p.m. There will be food vendors as well. We also solidified our Heritage Days contracts for event attractions, Many of the events are booked for July 6, 2024 Heritage Days. The Glacial Hills school will continue to operate the fun games, Premiere Pyrotechnics (fireworks), Ottertail inflatables, the climbing wall from Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center (PWELC), Hemker Zoo, Chris Cakes for Pancake breakfast, Big Stone Pedal Pullers Bruce Wellendorf, Jeanne Mix and Temporary tattoos, Janet Fossen the Balloon Twister, Freedom Flight- POW/MIA Hot Air Balloon and Riley Spindler for coronation music are all booked.

If you are interested in helping out by volunteering let us know. Also if you want to contribute monetarily we will accept community donations.

We also approved an Ad for our Vintage and Artisan Market Aug. 2-3, 2024 in The Old Times newspaper and will be purchasing a table cloth and signage for our Chamber table at our 10 events this year.
