The Minnewaska Area softball team was swept in a doubleheader at Sauk Centre, Thursday, 6-0 and 7-4.  The Lakers fell to 1-7 overall and 0-6 in the conference with the two losses.

The Lakers have a very busy week this week with a game at home against NLS, Tuesday (tomorrow) followed by a doubleheader at Montevideo, Thursday, and a game at Breckenridge, Friday, that was added recently to the schedule.

Minnewaska also added a home game against Ottertail Central, Thursday, May 16, and turned a single game with Morris Area, Tuesday, May 7 into a doubleheader due to a game needing to be made up with the Tigers.

•  This year’s Minnewaska Area softball roster includes Xi Li, Amanda Lohre, Trelana Johnson, Melanie Lara, Emara Sanow, Ally Mogard, Mataya Mix, Brooklyn Armstrong, Lauren Stryhn, Emma Poegel, Ella Roering, Carly Jergenson, Avery Lewison, Eliana Marthaler, Haillie Schulz and Jenna Drewes.

Members of the JV team are Kendyll Jenson, Morgan Meyer, Mesa Kittelson, Kaylen Blair, Zaevri Keyser, Rachel Rankin, Emma Hawkinson, Norah Vanzee, Kylie Fenger, Ella Aaberg, Mariah Shaw and Claira Frey.

SC 6-7, Waska 0-4

The Lakers played a couple of good games, but still were swept in a doubleheader at Sauk Centre, Thursday, 6-0 and 7-4.

Minnewaska had just three hits in the first game, one each by Ella Roering, Avery Lewison and Allison Mogard (triple), while Sauk Centre scored at least one run in four of its six at-bats.

Mataya Mix took the loss on the mound despite giving up just seven hits and five earned runs.

The Lakers, who also got a walk and stolen base from Haillie Schulz, struck out 10 times during the game.

•  In game two, the Lakers scored four runs in the bottom-half of the third to take a temporary 4-1 lead.

Sauk Centre, which outhit Minnewaska 9-7, came right back in the top-half of the fourth with four runs of its own to retake the lead.  The Mainstreeters added two more runs in the seventh.

Ella Roering, who took the complete-game loss on the mound, was 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Emma Poegel was also 2-for-4 with a run.  Jenna Drewes added a hit, run and stolen base for the Lakers, while Allison Mogard also scored.

Jenna Riley won both games for the Mainstreeters, striking out 12 Lakers in game two and also going 2-for-3 at the plate with a walk.
