SUMMARY PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE No. 202402

POPE COUNTY, MINNESOTA 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, on April 2, 2024, Ordinance No. 202402, Regulating the Use of Cannabis and Cannabis-Derived Products in Public Places and Prohibiting the Use of Cannabis and Cannabis-Derived Products by Those Under the Age of 21, was adopted by the Pope County Board of Commissioners.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that, pursuant to Minn. Stat. §§ 331A.01 and 375.51, a summary of Ordinance No. 202402 is provided as follows: 

Ordinance No. 202402 regulates the use of cannabis and cannabis-derived products in public places and prohibits the recreational use of cannabis and cannabis-derived products by those under the age of 21.  In accordance with recent state legislation, local governments may regulate certain uses of cannabis and related products in public places and as otherwise allowed by statute. The ordinance prohibits the use of cannabis and cannabis-derived products in public places; prohibits the smoking or vaping of cannabis or other derived or similar products in a location where inhalation of a minor may occur; and prohibits recreational use of cannabis or other derived or similar products by those under the age of 21. The ordinance defines the penalty for violation as a petty misdemeanor, a fine-only penalty not to exceed $300 in accordance with law.
