The Minnewaska Area girls golf team completed its WCC sweep this season, winning its eighth-straight conference meet at Montevideo last Monday.

The Lakers had 64 points this season, while BOLD finished second in all eight competitions to earn 56 points and place second.

Minnewaska also golfed at the Brainerd Invitational last Wednesday, finishing tied for third among 13 teams.

This week, the postseason begins as the Lakers are set to golf in the Section 3AA Prelims at Oakdale, Wednesday, May 22.

The top five teams and top golfers will return to Oakdale, Wednesday, May 29 to compete in the Section 3AA Finals and a chance to earn a berth at state.

WCC meet at Monte

The Lakers made it a clean sweep with their eighth-straight WCC team title at the final conference meet of the season at Montevideo last Monday.

Minnewaska scored a 152 total for its lowest score of the year.  It’s previous low was a 164 total at Melrose.

Ava Kollman also had the lowest nine-hole round for the Lakers this season with a 35 to earn medalist honors.

Arivia DeBoer was next with a one-over 37 to earn third, while Annika DeBoer was fourth with a 38 and Kyra Nelson carded a 42 to earn sixth.

The only other rounds in the 30s for the Laker team this year were a 37 and 38 by Arivia and Annika DeBoer, respectively, during the WCC meet at Melrose.

Minnewaska had a total of 64 points this season in the eight meets, while BOLD finished as the runner-up each time and placed second for the season with 56 points.

Finishing third was Melrose (48 points), followed by Montevideo and Sauk Centre with 27, Morris Area-CA with 25, WCA with 19 and Benson with 18 points.

Also golfing for the Lakers at Montevideo were Anna Kollman in eighth with a 44, Lillie Ogdahl in 17th with a 49 and Michaela Johnson placing 25th with a 53.

Brainerd Invitational

The Lakers tied for third during the 13-team Brainerd Invitational last Wednesday.  Detroit Lakes earned the team title with a 327, placing three of its golfers in the top seven.

Arivia DeBoer paced the Lakers, shooting an 18-hole score of 82 to tie for fourth.  Fergus Falls’ Annika Jyrkas shot a 77 to edge Brainerd’s Sophia Karsnia by one stroke for medalist honors.

Brainerd placed second during the team competition with a 350, while Moorhead and Minnewaska tied for third with 357 totals.

Annika DeBoer was next for Waska, shooting an 88 to earn 13th, while Ava Kollman had a 93 to place 25th and Kyra Nelson carded a 94 to earn 26th.  Also golfing for the Lakers were Anna Kollman (106, 51st), Lillie Ogdahl (109, 57th) and Michaela Johnson (110, 58th).
