After two weeks of competition, the Minnewaska Trap Team has jumped up in the ranks from fifth place to third.  “The team shot very well last week, so this move up in the standings really is not a surprise to me at all,” stated coach Jennie Stone. “We still have room for improvement with three weeks left, but I really feel a shift and I think it is in our favor”.

The team shot competition week #3, Sunday, May 5.  As the team, the Lakers shot an 18.75 average.  The top gun was a tie again, this week with Brody Hoffert and Levi Schultz both crushing 49’s.  “This is the second time in a week that Brody has crushed 49×50; I couldn’t be more proud of him,” Stone said.  “He seems to have found his focus and I know he is happy with all of his hard work.  And Levi is back to shooting where he belongs, at the top.  He is a solid shooter and team leader.”

Most improved on the week was Andren Olness, breaking an impressive 21×25.  “We are seeing a lot of the new shooters bringing their scores closer together and being more consistant, and that is key,” Stone said.

Conference rankings are looking promising for individuals as well.  Currently, Tabbi Durand is in 8th place in the girls’ top 25, Makayla Hagen is ranked 14th, Holly Hennen 15th and Kendra Schultz is ranked 18th.  For the boys, Dylan VanZee is tied for 2nd among the top 25, Mason Reichmann is tied for 6th, Levi Schultz is tied for 13th and August Reichmann is tied for 16th.
