REGULAR BOARD MEETING MINUTES

The Minnewaska Area Schools Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, May 20, 2024 in the Minnewaska Area Schools District Office Board Room.

 The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairperson Barsness. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Absent: Zavadil

Special Recognitions & Honors: 

• The board would like to recognize Tammie Williams Quiggle for all of her hard work and dedication to our students at Minnewaska and her program. She spends countless hours before and after school preparing and meeting with students and parents to ensure her students are receiving the best programming they can. She was a driving force of our new PAES Lab (Practical Assessment Exploration System) and has been a pillar of our High School Special Education department for many years. Thank you, Tammie!

Jen Jabas of United Way and Sarah Suchy will give a presentation on collaboration, and partnership.

Katie Elenberger, Spark 27 Founder and Creative Brand Strategist, attended to provide the school board with a review of projects completed in FY24.  Katie will also present the FY25 contract proposals, including goals for the upcoming year.

High School Principal Nate Meissner presented and update to the board on the High School.

Community Education Director Bill Mills presented an update to the board on his department.

Motion by Barsness, seconded by Ogdahl, to approve Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreement with the Minnewaska Teachers Association (MTA) substitute teacher.
