Proceeds go to Assist Hospice Programs and Local First Responders

It was a beautiful morning to trek 3.1 miles along North Lakeshore Drive at the 10th annual Scrub Run. Through the 129 registered participants and sponsorships that helped defray costs, Glacial Ridge Health System donated $1460 to Glacial Ridge Hospice to help provide special programs for clients. Also, some participants who registered online noticed the additional fundraiser to help pay for Pope County First Responder’s mental health through therapists of their choice, and they raised another $100.

Inspired by Dr. Mark  Johnson, the primary goal of the Scrub Run is to put a goal date on people’s calendars that encourage physical activity leading up to, then following, the event. GRHS appreciates all who were involved.

Door prize giveaways were a hit and donated by Dairy Queen, Eagle Bank, Glacial Ridge Wellness Center, Penny’s Diner, Wandering Cup Coffee, Thrivent Financial, and Glacial Ridge Health System. A special thank you goes to the City of Glenwood for the use of Lakeside’s parking lot and City Park; Glacial Ridge EMS, Glenwood Police Department, and Pope County Sheriff’s Posse for ensuring everyone’s safety; Pat at Screen Prints Plus for her help with the shirts, Chris at Captain’s Bar and Grill for setting up the midway water station, and to Starbuck VFW Post 4582 and Tom’s Market for donating the post-race refreshments.

Remember, whatever your goal is, you can achieve it. It means taking the first step and keep moving forward.
