The Minnewaska Area School Board recently announced the results of Superintendent Chip Rankin’s performance review for the period of July 2023 to July 2024. The Board commended Mr. Rankin for his “exceptional leadership, communication skills, and ongoing dedication to our district’s success and safety,” it was stated last week in a report from the board.
“Throughout the past year, Mr. Rankin’s communication with the MAS Board, staff, students, and the community has remained outstanding. His ability to effectively engage with our stakeholders has been a driving force behind successfully implementing the district’s strategic plan. His leadership has fostered a sense of shared ownership among staff and the community, encouraging widespread support and buy-in for the district’s goals and initiatives,” according to a news release from the board.
Under Mr. Rankin’s steady leadership, the district has experienced significant improvements. “The safety of our facilities has reached an all-time high, and student test scores have shown remarkable improvement. Mr. Rankin has consistently demonstrated consistency and predictability in his role, contributing to a stable and positive environment across the district,” the report stated.
As the district’s strategic roadmap approaches its conclusion in 2025, the Board encouraged Mr. Rankin to lead the efforts in renewing and updating the plan. In addition, the Board recognized the importance of exploring efficiencies in daycare expansion and implementing additional safety measures at all entrances to further enhance the district’s infrastructure.
Looking ahead, the Board is confident that Mr. Rankin will continue positioning the district for future success, with a vision extending well into 2040. His commitment to fostering a positive culture within the high school environment and his ability to enlist key stakeholders will be crucial in strengthening alliances and driving positive cultural changes.
“In conclusion, the Minnewaska Area School Board remains united in its belief that the district is moving forward in a positive direction under Mr. Rankin’s leadership. We extend our gratitude to Mr. Rankin for exceeding expectations over the past year and look forward to his continued growth as a leader for our district,” it was stated in the report.
