The Minnewaska Area boys soccer team snapped a mini losing streak with a 1-1 tie against Melrose Area last Tuesday night at home. The Lakers scored the first goal of the game on a long, booming shot by Ryan Greseth, but Melrose got the tying goal in the second half.
The Lakers also played at Prinsburg CMCS, Thursday, but results of that game were not available to the Pope County Tribune by press deadline.
This week, the Lakers are set to close out the regular season with a game at home against St. John’s Prep, Tuesday (tomorrow) followed by a game at St. Cloud Cathedral, Thursday.
The start of the Section 8A Boys Soccer Tournament is set for Tuesday, Oct. 8. In the Section 8A standings, St. Cloud Cathedral is currently seeded first with a 13-0 record, followed by Melrose Area (7-6-2), Prinsburg (4-7-1), St. John’s Prep (3-7-2), Minnewaska Area (2-8-1) and Morris Area (0-4).
