Musician Laura MacKenzie performs “Celtic Yuletide,” a celebration of holiday favorites, at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home “Commons” at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3.  With music both joyous and reflective, many of the selections have Celtic origins, arranged with traditional Irish and Scottish music and presented on a unique array of wind-powered instruments. The seasonal concert is free and open to the public, funded in part with monies from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage fund, sponsored by Minnewaska Lutheran Home and Viking Library System.

Of Scottish heritage, MacKenzie has learned from many tradition bearers on both sides of the Atlantic and has been recognized as a Master Folk Artist by the Minnesota State Arts Board. She was lauded as a “Celtic music wizard” by the Minneapolis Star Tribune and a “High priestess of Celtic music” by Minnesota Public Radio. The musician recently returned from Edinburgh and Aberdeen, Scotland, where she performed and led workshops.
