The Salvation Army Red Kettle Kick Off took place, Saturday, Nov. 16 at Tom’s Market in Glenwood. The special event featured local musicians singing and performing, free coffee, hot chocolate and cookies. Among the musicians and singers were Sheila Sperstad, Tobi Stein, Lois Maher, Elaine Dobson, Riley Thorfinnson, Carol Lietzan, Suzanne Vold, Phil Stumpf, Sandra LaMont, Diana Casor and a “Flash Mob” of other singers.

Local community leaders  were “ringing the bell” and the Glenwood Fire Department had a fire truck on the scene.  At left, longtime Red Kettle volunteer Wes Torguson receives an award for his service by local coordinator Donna Ortendahl.  Over $1,800 was raised during the kickoff event.  Below, Glenwood Fire Chief Bruce Cerney was among the bell ringers at Tom’s Market, while in the other pictures are other highlights from the special Salvation Army Red Kettle Kickoff at Tom’s Market.  “‘Tis the season to give.”
