Where to vote on Nov. 5?

If you live in the City of Glenwood and are voting in-person on Election Day tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov. 5), you will vote at the Glenwood Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce offices/Welcome Center.
This will be the first General Election where city voters will vote at the Chamber office/Welcome Center located at 7 1st Street NW, just north of Subway in Glenwood. The Minnesota Primary Election and the Presidential Primary Election this year were also held at the Chamber office/Welcome Center.
The polls open at 7 a.m. and Glenwood City voters can vote until 8 p.m. “As long as you’re in line to vote by 8 p.m., you can vote, even if you do not reach the front of the line until after 8 p.m.,” according to the Minnesota Secretary of State office.
Glenwood City Finance Officer Mark Jones, who oversees elections in the city, said the reason the general election was moved to the Chamber office/Welcome Center this year was to provide improved parking as well as a better “people flow” in the building for voters. State statute dictates placement of voting equipment and City Hall didn’t have the configuration needed to create the kind of “flow” for voting booths and the voting equipment, Jones explained last week. “The chamber building was more favorable for that flow through the process,” he added.
There is adequate off-street temporary parking west of Subway and behind the Chamber office/Welcome Center. There is on-street parking along 1st Street NW. Voters can enter the building through the front door or one of the back doors of the building. The south back door will be for exiting only, Jones explained.
The street directly in front of the chamber/welcome center will be reserved for handicapped parking, Jones said.
