The Minnewaska Area wrestling team was 2-3 heading into a dual meet with Eden Valley-Watkins, Thursday at home. The match was in jeopardy though, due to snow the area received the night before.
The Lakers were also set to wrestle at the Pine River Invitational, Friday and Saturday, but due to the early holiday deadline, results of that competition will also be highlighted next week.
The Lakers opened up the season with a pair of wins over Sauk Centre-Melrose (40-33) and Morris Area-CA-Hancock (53-18) at the Minnewaska triangular before losing three times at the Pelican Rapids quadrangular to DGF (50-16), Frazee (34-30) and the host team (37-36).
The team also wrestled at the Big Lake Invitational, Friday, Dec. 6 where Chase Smith and Alex Adams both finish first, Landon Schiffler placed second, and Miles Wildman and Jude Bailey were both third.
Miles Wildman is off to an 8-1 start for the wrestlers, while Chase Smith is 7-1, Alex Adams is 6-2, Riley Dell is 3-1, Austyn Schuler is 3-2, Isaiah Rosario, Braylen Scharmer and Noah Jensen are each 5-4 and Landon Schiffler is 4-4.
