The Minnewaska Area wrestling team went 3-1 at the Border Battle at Milbank, SD, Saturday.  The Lakers improved to 5-4 for the season with the three wins, beating Sioux Falls Jefferson (42-34), Milbank (52-27) and Sioux Falls Washington (53-30) while also losing to Harrisburg (51-15).

Noah Jensen, Landon Schiffler and Alex Adams each went 4-0 for the Lakers during the Milbank Invitational.  In addition, Chase Smith recorded his 125th career win with a 29-second pin against SF Washington.

“It was a very solid performance by our team,” coach Chip Rankin said.  “Harrisburg is a powerhouse and we didn’t match up well against them, but we still competed.  In the other matches, we picked up some big wins to win three matches.  Senior Noah Jensen had a banner day, going 4-0 against some very tough competitors.”

This week, the action comes back home as the Lakers are set to host a multi-team Minnewaska Invitational, Friday, starting at 4 p.m., followed by another triangular at home, Tuesday, Jan 14.
