Miles Wildman and Chase Smith earned individual titles at the Minnewaska Invitational, Friday night in the MAHS gym.

The Lakers placed fourth as a team in a meet won by Little Falls.  Adding a runner-up finish for the Lakers was Alex Adams, while Landon Schiffler, Isaiah Rosario, Braylen Scharmer and Noah Jensen all finished third.

The Lakers are set to host another meet at home, Tuesday (tomorrow) as Minnewaska Area hosts a triangular with Ottertail Central and Barnesville.

Later in the week, the Lakers are set to compete at Alexandria, Thursday and at the Thief River Invitational, Saturday.  Minnewaska Area is 2-0 in the conference and 5-4 overall in dual meets this season.

Minnewaska Invite

The Lakers went a combined 19-13 at the Minnewaska Area Invitational, Friday night.  Little Falls won the 11-team title with 208 points, followed by Thief River Falls (149), BBE (147) and Minnewaska Area (134 points).

Earning titles for the Lakers were Miles Wildman at 121 pounds and Chase Smith at 139.  Both Lakers went 3-0 to win their respective weight class.

Wildman had a technical fall in the opener, a fall in 1:19 in the semifinals and another technical fall in the championship match, while Smith had a pin in 1:13, a technical fall and another pin in 3:47 during the finals.  Both Lakers were seeded first.

Wildman improved to an unofficial 19-3 overall this season while Smith is 15-5  Other wrestlers with double-digit victories are Alex Adams (16-5), Landon Schiffler (14-7), Noah Jensen (14-7), Isaiah Rosario (13-8) and Braylen Scharmer (10-10).

Placing second for the Lakers was Alex Adams at 107 pounds.  He was seeded third, but earned a pin in 2:38 in the quarterfinals and a 9-5 decision over the second seed in the semifinals before losing by a pin in the finals.

Earning thirds were Landon Schiffler at 114 pounds, Isiah Rosario at 145, Braylen Scharmer at 172 and Noah Jensen at 285 pounds.  Schiffler was seeded first but lost in the semifinals, Scharmer and Jensen were both seeded second but also lost in the semis, and Rosario was seeded third.

Also wrestling for the Lakers and going 0-2 were Austyn Schuler at 127 pounds, Jude Bailey at 152, Sawyer Erickson at 160 and Eric Bowen at 215.  The Lakers did not have any wrestlers at 133 and 189 pounds.
