Paul and Lorie Billehus, lifelong residents of Pope County, were named the 2025 Heritage Days Grand Marshals, recognizing their deep-rooted commitment to the Starbuck community.
The couple, married since 1957, has made significant contributions to education and local organizations. Lorie, a former teacher at Starbuck Elementary, later earned a master’s degree in special education and moved into administration. At 89, she continues to serve as secretary and treasurer of the Starbuck Depot Society, a role she has held since its founding in 1986.
The annual event conducted a brief business meeting led by Chamber President Karen Tharaldson. The new officers for 2025 are President Amy Camp, Vice President KaDee Hippe, Secretary Jodee Lund, and Treasurer – nonboard member – Tom Beuckens. The Board of Directors includes Camp, Patty Glomstad, Jennifer Tolifson, Kristie Taffe, Lund, Heather Gaston, Jackie Hill, and Hippe.
A complete story on the event with photos will be in next week’s issue.
