The Sauk River Watershed is home to some of Minnesota’s most critical natural habitats, providing essential benefits for wildlife and people alike. However, increasing pressure from development and habitat degradation threatens these vital landscapes. The Minnesota Land Trust’s conservation easement program offers private landowners with 40 acres or more of natural or restored habitat a chance to protect their land permanently while maintaining ownership.
Why Attend? This session will:
• Provide an overview of conservation easements and how they work.
• Highlight the financial advantages, including grant funding available to qualifying landowners.
• Showcase inspiring success stories from local landowners who have already partnered with the Land Trust.
• Offer an opportunity to meet with Minnesota Land Trust’s expert staff, ask questions, and explore next steps.
“The Minnesota Land Trust has been a trusted partner for landowners across the state for over 30 years,” says Leah Hall, Program Manager at the Minnesota Land Trust. “Our team’s goal is to make the process easy and rewarding, while ensuring the land you care about is protected forever.”
By choosing to protect your property with a conservation easement, you’ll play a direct role in safeguarding critical habitats for wildlife, improving water quality, and preserving Minnesota’s natural beauty for generations to come. Landowners also benefit from potential tax advantages and the satisfaction of knowing their legacy will endure.
