I have always been interested in birds. It’s just fascinating to me how the hawk mother protects her young. I would think the Golden Eagle must have a LOT of patience to sit on her eggs SO much. I know I don’t have that kind of patience!

Some of my favorite bird memories are when a mother robin laid her eggs under our back porch the past few springs.  When our porch was built, the wooden support bars were just big enough to fit a robin’s nest, and the slit between the floorboards are big enough for someone to look down into the top of the nest.

My four siblings and I like to kneel down and peer through the crack at the nest.  One time we found three sky-blue eggs!  We watched and waited and then the next time we checked the nest, we saw three cute baby chicks!  Some pictures taken last May are below.

The nest is still under our deck from last year and I am waiting for the next robin to come to lay her eggs in the nest this year, but until then, I’ll just have to wait!
